Ask Your Analytics Anything: Introducing GhostlyX Analyst
Most analytics dashboards are built around charts, tables, and filters. They work well when you know exactly what you are looking for. But when you want to explore, when you have a question like "What is driving the traffic increase this week?" or "Which pages have the highest bounce rate on mobile?", you end up clicking through multiple views, adjusting date ranges, and mentally stitching the answer together from scattered data points.
GhostlyX Analyst takes a different approach. It is an AI chat interface, built directly into your dashboard, that lets you ask questions about your analytics in plain English. It reads your live data, processes the question, and gives you a direct answer. No chart hunting, no filter juggling, no context switching.
GhostlyX Analyst is available on the Scale plan.
What GhostlyX Analyst can do
The Analyst has access to the same data your dashboard displays. This includes:
- Pageview statistics: total pageviews, unique visitors, sessions, bounce rate, average time on page, and views per visit across all your sites
- Top pages and referrers: which pages get the most traffic and where that traffic comes from
- Custom events: event names, counts, and the properties you have attached to them
- Heatmap data: click counts and scroll depth percentages for tracked pages, broken down by device type
- Uptime monitors: current status, response times, and recent check history for all your monitored URLs
You can ask questions that span any of these data sources. For example:
- "Which of my sites had the most visitors in the last 7 days?"
- "What are the top referrers for my blog this month?"
- "How far do mobile visitors scroll on my pricing page?"
- "Are any of my uptime monitors currently down?"
- "Which custom events fired the most this week?"
The Analyst processes these questions against your live data and returns a clear, specific answer. It does not generate generic advice. Every response is grounded in the numbers from your actual sites.
How it works
When you open GhostlyX Analyst from your dashboard sidebar, you see a chat interface. The Analyst greets you by name and offers a few suggested questions to get started. You can type any question in the input field and the Analyst will respond with an answer based on your current analytics data.
The conversation is interactive. You can ask follow-up questions, drill into specifics, or change direction entirely. The Analyst maintains context within the current session so you can have a natural back-and-forth conversation about your data.
Behind the scenes, the Analyst collects a snapshot of your analytics data at the start of each conversation. This snapshot includes aggregate statistics from all your sites, not raw visitor records. It uses this context to answer your questions accurately.
Privacy by design
GhostlyX Analyst follows the same privacy principles as every other GhostlyX feature.
No personal data is involved
The Analyst works with aggregate, anonymous data. It sees the same numbers your dashboard shows: pageview counts, bounce rates, top pages, referrer domains, event totals, uptime statuses. It has no access to IP addresses, visitor identifiers, cookie data, or any information that could identify an individual person.
This is a fundamental constraint of the GhostlyX data model. Because GhostlyX never collects personal data in the first place, there is no personal data for the Analyst to access. The AI cannot see what a specific visitor did, because that information does not exist anywhere in the system.
No conversation history is stored
Your conversations with the Analyst are not saved to any database. The entire conversation lives in your browser tab. When you close the tab, navigate away, or refresh the page, the conversation is gone permanently. There is nothing to delete because nothing was saved.
This is a deliberate design choice. Analytics questions are often time-sensitive and contextual. Storing conversation history would create a data retention problem without adding meaningful value. By keeping everything in the browser session, you get the convenience of a multi-turn conversation with none of the data storage overhead.
No third-party data sharing
The analytics data used by the Analyst stays within GhostlyX infrastructure. Your site names, pageview counts, and other metrics are used solely to generate your answer and are not shared with external parties, used for training, or retained after the response is delivered.
Automatic feedback submission
If you suggest a feature during your conversation, or if the Analyst identifies something that would improve your experience but is not currently possible, that feedback is automatically submitted to the GhostlyX team. This helps us prioritise development based on what real users actually need, rather than guessing.
The feedback submission includes only the subject and a brief description. No conversation history, analytics data, or personal information is included. You can think of it as a lightweight suggestion box that works inside the chat.
What the Analyst is not
It is worth being clear about what GhostlyX Analyst is not designed to do.
It is not a general-purpose AI chatbot. It cannot answer questions about topics outside your analytics data. If you ask it about the weather or the capital of France, it will politely redirect you to your analytics.
It is not a real-time monitoring tool. The data snapshot it works from is collected at the start of each conversation. If your traffic changes significantly during a long conversation, the Analyst may not reflect those changes until you start a new session.
It is not a replacement for your dashboard. The dashboard gives you visual trends, interactive charts, and the ability to explore data at your own pace. The Analyst is best for quick, specific questions where you want an answer without navigating through multiple views.
Why conversational analytics matters
The traditional analytics workflow looks something like this: you open your dashboard, select a site, choose a date range, navigate to the right report, scan the table or chart, and then repeat for the next question. For simple questions this works fine. For complex questions that span multiple data sources, it becomes tedious.
Conversational analytics removes the navigation overhead. Instead of figuring out which dashboard view contains the answer, you describe what you want to know and the system does the work. This is especially valuable when:
- You manage multiple sites and want a cross-site comparison
- You need to check on something quickly without drilling into a full report
- You are not sure which metric or view contains the answer to your question
- You want to explore your data without a specific hypothesis in mind
The time savings compound. A question that might take thirty seconds of clicking through dashboard views takes five seconds to type. Over the course of a week, that adds up.
How to use GhostlyX Analyst

Frequently asked questions
Q: Does GhostlyX Analyst store my conversations? A: No. Conversations exist only in your browser tab for the duration of the session. When you close the tab or navigate away, the conversation is permanently gone. Nothing is stored on GhostlyX servers.
Q: Can the Analyst see my visitors' personal data? A: No. GhostlyX does not collect personal data in the first place. The Analyst works with the same aggregate, anonymous statistics that your dashboard displays: pageview counts, bounce rates, top pages, referrer domains, and similar metrics. There are no IP addresses, visitor identifiers, or personal information anywhere in the system.
Q: What data sources can the Analyst access? A: The Analyst can access your pageview statistics, custom events, heatmap click and scroll data, and uptime monitor status across all your sites. This is the same data available in your dashboard views.
Q: Can I ask about data from a specific time period? A: The Analyst works with your recent data (typically the last 30 days). You can ask about trends, comparisons, and patterns within that window. For longer historical analysis, the dashboard charts and CSV export are better suited.
Q: Does using the Analyst affect my pageview quota? A: No. Conversations with the Analyst do not count toward your monthly pageview limit. The Analyst reads existing data; it does not generate new tracking events.
Q: What happens if I suggest a feature during a conversation? A: The Analyst automatically submits your suggestion to the GhostlyX team. Only the subject and a brief description are sent. No conversation history or analytics data is included in the feedback.
Q: Is GhostlyX Analyst available on all plans? A: GhostlyX Analyst is available on the Scale plan. Users on other plans can see a preview in the dashboard and upgrade from their billing settings.
